28 Mar The new Arpeggio bridge, Hisingen, Gothenburg
Ongoing
The bridge across Göta Älv was inaugurated in 1939 and is now, approximately 80 years later, condemned due to its load-bearing capacity. It is supposed to be replaced by a new, bascule bridge across the river. The new bridge will, just like the old one, connect the central parts of Gothenburg with Hisingen island and is supposed to be completed in time to mark the 400th anniversary of Gothenburg city in 2021.
During 2017-2018, Mytec participated in the foundation work, blasting and coating approx. 500 steel posts, which will form part of the primary concrete support for the bridge.
The steel structure of the bridge is built in northern Spain and shipped up to Gothenburg on a barge. The first sections will be delivered and assembled during 2019.
