New Hisingen Bridge Arpeggio, Gothenburg
Ongoing
The Götaälv Bridge, inaugurated in 1939, is now, more than 70 years later, deemed unfit in terms of load-bearing capacity and will therefore be replaced by a new movable bridge over the river. The new Hisingen Bridge will, like the old one, connect central Gothenburg with Hisingen and is scheduled for completion by Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary in 2021.
During 2017-2018, Mytec participated in the bridge’s foundation work. Blasting and coating of approximately 500 steel piles for the bridge’s primary concrete supports.
The bridge’s steel structures are being built in northern Spain and transported to Gothenburg by barge. The first sections will be delivered and assembled during 2019.
